Our-Story Verse Builder — Turn Your Story Into a First-Draft Verse

Most love songs fail because they try to describe a feeling. The good ones zoom in on a moment — a place, a detail, a small turn of events. Answer six questions about your story and the builder weaves them into a first-draft verse you can rewrite into your own voice. It runs on click, entirely in your browser, and nothing is stored.

Leave a field empty and the builder leaves a marked slot — the verse is a frame, your details are the song.

Your verse will appear here. Answer a few fields and hit “Build my verse”, or try “Fill an example”.

🛠️How it works

  • Six prompts, one per story beat — place, detail, feeling, turn, where you are now, and the line you’d actually say out loud. Specific beats generic, every time.
  • The builder weaves your answers into a 6-line verse using one of two narrative frames, chosen by which slots you’ve filled. Empty slots stay marked so you can see what’s missing.
  • It’s a frame, not a ghostwriter. No AI, no server — your words go in, the structure goes around them. The rewrite from draft to your voice is the part that matters, and that part is yours.

📖Why details beat feelings

“I miss you so much” could be anyone’s song. “You kept stirring your coffee” could only be yours — and that’s exactly why a listener believes it. Country and folk writers call it the detail doctrine: one concrete, unrepeatable detail does more emotional work than a page of adjectives, because it proves the story happened and invites the listener to supply their own version of it.

The six prompts are ordered the way memory actually works: where, what you saw, how it felt, what changed, where it led, and what you’d say now. A verse that walks that arc in six lines usually doesn’t need a rewrite — just a lot of small word choices.

🔧What to do with the result

  • Read it out loud, once. Any line you wouldn’t say to the actual person, rewrite in your own words. Keep the structure, replace the diction.
  • Trade feeling-words for detail-words. If slot 3 came out as “amazing”, try a weather word or a light word instead — the frame rhymes with itself better that way.
  • Then set it to music. Check line lengths with the Lyric Syllable Counter and endings with the High-Note Vowel Map before you commit to a melody.

❓Frequently Asked Questions

Do you store or send my answers anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser with JavaScript — the fields are never transmitted, logged, or saved. Close the tab and the verse is gone.

Is this using AI?

No — there’s no model and no API call. The builder fills your answers into two hand-written narrative frames. That’s also why it’s fast and works offline.

The verse doesn’t rhyme. Is that a bug?

It’s a choice. Story verses often land better unrhymed — the detail carries them. If you want rhyme, keep the frame and swap the ending words with help from the Rhyme Scheme Mapper.

Can I use this for a breakup song or a friend?

Absolutely — the six beats work for any two-person story. For a breakup, fill slot 6 with the question you never got to ask; the frame handles it the same way.
